Thank u Yilin ur so supportive of my arts!!! talented or not i need to work harder >.< i get a lot of emails about job opportunities so i am beginning to put together a portfolio, a professional one, tat i can use to apply for jobs in the future!! This is gonna b rly tough @_@ arghhh... i'll make myself busy during the winter break, but i know i'll need wayyy more time D: huff huff!
Nuuu not like that kind of job offer in person, it's just that i get emails about possible job opportunities from different studios although most of them don't apply to me cuz they r looking for 3rd year, graduated, or students who has a lot of specific knowledge, which i don't LOL ...well i don't have the knowledge YET. But the point is, i gotta start preparing man! Cuz in a year or two, I might actually b ready for a career. I will need the portfolio to show ppl wut i can do right, and I wanna start early, that is all
This is actually a lil complicated, cuz right now i am still learning 3d stuff, so the 3d portfolio can wait since i dunno much about it yet. But you know how i do 2d illustrations on my own time, I am thinking if i can do character design or something in the future. In that case, I need to start preparing a 2d illustration portfolio right now... and that is exactly wut i am planning to do it's gonna b ambitious and EPIC!! i hope i hope..
oohhhh yeaa that's true... but still, u are expanding your knowledge more and more, which is a good sign! Every time when i visit DV, I am always excited to see your works because you are so amazing! Lol, seems like I compliment you too much haha sure ~ I know you want to prepare it well, so i can only say is jia you!! If you need some suggestions or stuck with ideas, feel free to ask me!
oh yea?! 2D illustration sounds pretty interesting! yeaaa! you are pro at it. Try 3D modelling since it's ceramic based. (it's fun, I've done it before) I know what you mean, animation requires lots of time and skills, esp preparing portfolio in long term. so have you thought of what kind of theme are you going to focus on for your portfolio? i bet you already planned something wicked > can't wait. I will be the first person to see your works. xD btw, did you see the short video clip i sent you on fb? DDDDDDDD it's very cool~
Aww ur too kind Yilin You are a pretty amazing artist urself too! I am very happy that we can trade suggestions and comments on each other's artwork!
Hmm I am a lil confused, what do u mean by try 3D modelling? =o I mean I am learning it right now, and I will be preparing a 3d portfolio in the future when i am more advanced in it...
Lol so far, i just had a list of possible things i shud include in my portfolio. I am trying to cover as much subjects as i can in 25 pc so I can show ppl my capabilities. This should be very professional, so i am looking at a lot of professional portfolios for reference this will take a lot of planning before I can actually start!
Oh and I saw the Tangled sequel shorts u sent me thank u! Although i've already seen it before, but it is so good I watched it again haha now i wanna go watch Tangled all over again *-* it is so gooooood!
haha don't compliment me! I know my level. Sure! We can always help out whenever we have questions ! you helped me a lot before so I just want to say thank you.~
Ohh, sorry for confusing you! well, here's the link: [link]
That is what I mean Okay, I will give you some ideas for your portfolio works. Personally, if I were to prepare portfolio, I would show the 'process' of my works (of course in a professional way) like for example, start with the sketches of character design (in a professional way) -then work on the 'character ceramics the link I showed you' then work on Maya software (for final product). you know what I mean? That's part of 3D Modeling. It's a very broad term. I guess it's good to show that skills because then, they will see how neat you are. I've done it in Art Institute before; we were assigned to do 'ceramic' model first, then we DO/transfer it to Maya (a great way to practice and feel what it is like). Hope that clears up your thought Yea, take time and think about it. try to create a portfolio that tells something bout you xD
HAHA! I know right??!!! Tangled movie is REALLY GOOOOOOOD! ) Tat Flynn Rider is HILIARIOUS! (aka his nose) xDDDDDD ohohoh! I love the Latern part, and her golden hair!!!!!!!! always send shiver down my spine
Ohhh i see what u mean this is a GREAT idea~ Yilin!!! Sadly, i dun have much experience in sculpting with my hands @_@ Although I am very interested in sculpting I think while I am learning 3D, I can try doing sculptures on my free time (if i can find any free time tat is, i dunno how busy i'll get in the next semester/year so fingers crossed!) Then if i'm good enough, i'll include a few in my 3D portfolio Ur so brilliant, showing some 3d handmade sculptures will let ppl know how well i know the forms yayayayyyy~~~ i love u Yilin~~~~
oh yeah the lantern part, it's so romantic it teared me up everytime i hear the song "I see the light" it makes my nose sour too lol! [link]
Umm I don't take photos? All i do are digital arts! >.< for this I used Photoshop CS6, for a list of other programs i uses, u can check my profile page. This took me 2 days, others vary on their complexity but usually I wudn't go over 10 hrs becoz im lazy :<
